Corona Outbreak: UEFA EURO 2020 has been postponed

Euro 2020 has been postponed by UEFA due to Corona outbreak all over the world. the following is the announcement from UEFA to its fans.

Dear fans,

As announced yesterday, UEFA EURO 2020 has been postponed in light of the risks posed by the coronavirus pandemic. You can read the full statement here.

As disappointed as many of you will be with this news, we have made this decision to protect the health of everyone involved in the game. UEFA EURO 2020 was due to take place in 12 cities across Europe from 12 June to 12 July 2020. Proceeding with the tournament this year would have put thousands of fans at risk of infection, as well as placing unnecessary pressure on the national public services of the countries involved in staging matches.

The proposed new dates are 11 June to 11 July 2021, which should help with the completion of all domestic competitions this season, currently on hold due to the COVID-19 emergency.

UEFA would like to reassure existing ticket buyers that if they cannot attend the tournament in 2021, the face value of their tickets and packages will be refunded in full. Within the next month, further information on the refund process will be communicated to existing ticket buyers via email and on euro2020.com/tickets.

In the meantime, all our competitions and matches (including friendlies) for clubs and national teams, for both men and women, have been put on hold until further notice. The UEFA EURO 2020 play-off matches and international friendlies, originally scheduled for the end of March, are now scheduled be played in the international window at the start of June, subject to a review of the situation.

We will continue to provide you with the latest information on UEFA.com and strive to respond to your questions as soon as the relevant information is available. For any important information, you can expect to hear from us again via email.

And to keep you entertained throughout this unforeseen break from the beautiful game, we will have a full programme of archives and fresh content on UEFA.tv.

Stay safe,

Your UEFA newsletter team
